Synopsis

War abolished unemployment. There were guns, ships and planes to be constructed. Industry boomed, a far cry from the 1930's. The government had taken direct control over the economy. WORK is a portrait of an economy during war. Includes interviews with Jack Jones (former union leader), Alec Cairncross (former government economist) and Brian Rix (actor/manager and former Bevin boy).
