Documentary about a "tent", or branch, of "The Sons of the Desert", the Laurel and Hardy appreciation society, in Stan Laurel's birthplace of Ulverston in Cumbria. It looks at Bill Cubin, the "Grand Sheik" and twice Mayor of the town, who is devoting his retirement years to preserving Laurel's memory, especially his local associations. It also shows some of the vast amount of memorabilia, souvenirs and publicity material that Cubin has collected over the years.
