Film details

Introduction

Tamil filmmaker Mani Ratnam is that uncommon director who consistently makes ‘Mindie’ (mainstream + indie) films – thoughtful, yet with song and dance, and brilliant song picturisation.

The genius of A. R. Rahman, who won two Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Original Score for Slumdog Millionaire, lifts this film, a romantic musical and pacifist plea set against the Hindu-Muslim riots that rocked Mumbai in the early 1990s.
