The final part of Mark Tully's series consists of two filmed portraits featuring Major Digvijay Katkar, an officer in the Indian Army and Laduri Bal, a woman who heads her village council. Major Katkar reveals an Indian army retaining many British traditions while adapting to the new India. Laduri Bai's call for female solidarity is matched by the wish of India's leaders for women to take a full role in creating a just and prosperous society.
