When a Granada news report item questioned the placing of a 13-year-old girl in a local adult psychiatric ward in Prestwich Hospital, it was discovered that she in fact spent her days in Cleveland House, a voluntary day centre for young people suffering from mental illness. Cleveland House objected to the way the media portrayed "the mad". This is a film of their efforts to put the record straight and of Granada's effort to show the daily life at Cleveland House. The film begins with Cleveland arguing with the film crew about how much access thaey would be allowed, and ends with Cleveland members interviewing the crew about their reactions to "mental illness".
