Synopsis

Drama. Jamey Meadows is a young man recently released from prison after serving a sentence for a crime committed by his gangster brother, Gil. When Jamey takes a low-paid job as a census taker, he meets Chun Hua, an immigrant from China who lives with her baby, middle-aged husband and interfering mother-in-law. Jamey realises that Chun is a virtual prisoner in her own home, and offers to give her English lessons; eventually a relationship begins to blossom between the two. Unfortunately, Gil is in debt to some Chinese gangsters, a situation which threatens the happiness of Chun and Jamey.
