Drama. Abel `Abe' Shaddick is a grumpy old man who runs a delicatessen in an small town in upstate New York. He barely tolerates his nephew, Stanley, who occupies a room behind the store. When Stanley agrees to look after a small child from the city projects for the summer, Abe is completely against the idea - but the child, Herman, is already on his way to visit. Eventually, the old man and the boy learn to get along, mainly due to their shared love - fishing.
