Relates the story of the clash between Michael Lang, organiser of the legendary three-day Woodstock rock festival in the late 1960s, and local politician, Ray Meier, when the former staged Woodstock 1999 on a disused airbase near the city of Rome in upstate New York. The politician was concerned about the prospect of widespread lawlessness in his home town. Some of the other organisers of the original hippy festival were also disillusioned by the event, and many of the young festival goers of 1999 were outraged by the hefty admission charge, the cost of food and drink and conditions on the site.
