Synopsis

War film set near the end of World War II. A Russian lieutenant is put in charge of a group of German prisoners-of-war and sent to the village of Polumgla where they are to build a radio transmission tower. At first the villagers are hostile, but gradually things change and the prisoners begin to assimilate into the life of the village and even have relationships with local women.
