Synopsis

Romantic drama set in the 19th century. The wealthy Saraswatichandra is bethrothed to Kumud. However, the machinations of his jealous sister-in-law cause him to flee his home. Kumud's family force her to marry Dev instead, a drunkard and womaniser. She tries to commit suicide, but is rescued by mission nuns. Later, her husband dies, and she is free to marry Saraswatichandra, but she refuses to marry again and devotes her life to doing charity work instead.
