That's My Boy (2012)

Film details

Synopsis

Comedy. In the 1980s, teenager Donny Berger is seduced many times by his schoolteacher Mary McGarricle, who falls pregnant and is sent to prison. Their son, named Han Solo, is raised by Donny but leaves home at eighteen and becomes estranged from the father whose careless parenting let him down in many ways. In the modern day, Han Solo goes by the name Todd, works in finance and tells everyone his parents are dead. Donny is a has-been celebrity who owes over $40,000 in tax and faces three years in prison if he cannot pay up. A ruthless friend who has a reality TV show offers Donny $50,000 if he can get Han/Todd to join him in a prison visit to see Miss McGarricle. It is the week of Todd's wedding to Jamie, and when Donny turns up at the coastal mansion (owned by Todd's boss) where the ceremony is to be held, Todd passes Donny off as his best friend. Donny's crude and revolting ways embarrass Todd but his freshness and honesty win over Jamie's family. Donny longs to win back his son's love, but the ulterior motive behind his visit seems likely to spoil all that. Events come to a head when Todd learns Donny's secret just as Donny learns a shocking secret about Jamie.
