Drama. Eight stories tell of the fallout, in a small New Zealand town, of the death of a boy named Waru, who has tragically died at the hands of his caregiver. The stories are: [1] 'Charm' - Aunty Charm runs the catering for a town event but has to learn that some things are beyond her control; [2] 'Anahera' - Primary school teacher Anahera, feeling bad about Waru's death, tries to keep her poise before the other pupils; [3] 'Mihi' - A single parent takes time to hear what her children are thinking; [4] 'Em' - A party-loving young woman struggles to take care of her baby; [5] 'Ranui' - At a performance of an old Maori rite, elderly Ranui accepts that something has to give if her grandchild is to be at peace; [6] 'Kiritapu' - A young Māori reporter puts her career in jeopardy when she stands up for Maoris; [7] 'Mere' - In the playground, a schoolgirl calls to mind the spirits of the ancestors as she exposes the person who has abused her; [8] 'Titty & Bash' - On a car journey two young women have a falling out over how to deal with violence in their midst.
