Essential Scene Analysis for KS5 MFL

Aimed at teachers of all MFL subjects, this one-hour online session offers understanding of scene analysis requirements for teaching the MFL KS5 film set text. Focusing on essential film language and how to contextualise and analyse a scene, the session will offer a shot-by-shot analysis of a scene from Mathieu Kassovitz’s La Haine, as well as practical examples from other MFL set texts.

Teaching Pan’s Labyrinth for KS5 Spanish – includes Scheme of Learning resource
3:45pm to 5:15pm, Tuesday 20 October 2026, online
Aimed at Spanish teachers, this twilight CPD session is aimed at guiding through film-focused activities to help KS5 students understand, analyse, and enjoy discussing and writing about Pan’s Labyrinth (del Toro, 2006). The session will use some extracts of the film to offer teachers practical examples of teaching the film through key areas of film analysis (mise-en-scène, sound and camera shots).

Teaching La Haine for KS5 French – includes Scheme of Learning resource
3:45pm to 5:15pm, Tuesday 13 October 2026, online
This online CPD session is aimed at guiding teachers through film-focused activities to help KS5 students understand, analyse and enjoy discussing, and writing about, La Haine (Kassovitz, 1995). This session will use film extracts to offer teachers ideas for close reading as well as practical examples of teaching the film.
