10 steps to make a movie for KS2

Join us on a tour through from a film’s conception to the big screen special effects of a blockbuster!

The Wizard of Oz (1939)

10:30am to 2:00pm, 4 July 2023, BFI Southbank

What stages do films go through from the first idea to the final screening? Join us on a step-by-step journey from a film’s conception, through storyboarding, filming and editing to its release and distribution. Using selected film clips and through interactive activities, we will explore each stage of filmmaking while discussing genre, comprehension of what we see and hear on screen, and how trailers persuade audiences to watch a film. Drama activities will allow pupils to act as the cast and film crew and make their own live sound effects.
