Event details
This study day is an ideal introduction to the life and work of Federico García Lorca, using a range of audio-visual and other related materials. We will be exploring his life, work and legacy, including issues such as the context of the Spanish Civil War, ideas of gender and sexuality, and his place in Spanish global culture.
The day has been structured in response to the requirements of the A level specifications and will provide rich learning opportunities for students to improve their understanding of Spanish cinema, theatre and culture. In the morning an interactive clip-based presentation will give an overview of his life and work before a screening of a filmic adaptation of the Lorca play, The House of Bernada Alba (Camus,1987).
The study day will mainly be conducted in Spanish, with lots of opportunity for student interaction. A resource pack will be available on the day to continue learning in the classroom.
