The UK Global Screen Fund's 2026 International Business Development Strategy Days

The UK Global Screen Fund is inviting applications for its 2026 International Business Development Strategy Days.
This two-day in-person participatory event is for UK-based screen company founders across film, TV, video games, and animation and is designed to focus on building a successful international growth strategy with the goal of increased revenue generation and international expansion. The programme will consist of panels, talks and workshops delivered by a range of industry experts.
Sessions will include:
· international opportunities
· international strategies
· UK Global Screen Fund awards case studies
· international business development application finances workshop
The International Business Development strand of the UK Global Screen Fund offers funding of £50,000 to £200,000 to support business strategies focused on the creation/acquisition/exploitation of IP for screen. The workshop is targeted at companies which have not received International Business Development funding before, including companies which may have applied previously and were not successful, or those who applied in the current 2026 round.
The Strategy Days take place in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne on 21 to 22 of July. Overnight accommodation is provided and a travel bursary is available. Selected delegates must be available to attend on both days.

UK Global Screen Fund - Town Hall Meeting

The UK Global Screen Fund town hall meeting took place on Thursday 26 March, led by Denitsa Yordanova, Head of UK Global Screen Fund and International Funds. The online meeting was open to all industry and provided an update on the latest plans for the expanded UK Global Screen Fund. Financed through the UK government’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and administered by the BFI, the scope of the fund is scaling up with a budget increase from £7m per year to £18m per year for 2026-29.
Following an intensive period of fund planning and extensive industry consultation, this meeting took a look ahead at what’s next for the UK Global Screen Fund and unveiled developments across each of its three open access strands: International co-production; International Distribution; and International Business Development. The session also covered plans for the Promoting UK Screen strategy and shared other news, including recent awards and activity supported by the fund.

International Co-production Workshop 2025 – Belfast, Northern Ireland

The UK Global Screen Fund organised a two-day participatory workshop in Belfast for UK-based feature film and TV producers interested in international co-production. The workshop consisted of panels, talks, and workshops on co-production with a range of both UK-based and international experts and producers.

UKGSF International Business Development - informational webinars

The International Business Development Strategy Days took place at Ormeau Labs in Belfast with 31 participants. The event included panels, talks and workshops focusing on building a successful international growth strategy for the development of UK screen content businesses with the goal of increased revenue generation and international expansion.
BFI International – town hall meeting

A BFI International town hall meeting took place on Thursday 8 May, led by Denitsa Yordanova, Head of UK Global Screen Fund and International Funds. The meeting was open to all industry and offered an update from the team on the BFI’s international activity and funding opportunities, including the BFI National Lottery International Connections Fund, the UK Focus Fund and the Film Travel Grant Fund in partnership with British Council. Additionally, the meeting covered the latest news from the UK Global Screen Fund, including recent awards and activity, plus a look ahead to what’s next across each of the UKGSF’s three open access strands.
Growing Your Business Internationally – informational session, Cardiff, Wales
2pm to 5pm, Wednesday 30 April 2025
This interactive session explored the ways UK Global Screen Fund support could help you grow your business. It also looked at creative sector tax incentives, including recent changes and the new Enhanced Rate for low budget film.
The event was for Welsh companies working in film, TV, animation and games and was in partnership with the Department for Business & Trade. It will take place in person at Tramshed Tech, Unit D, Pendyris St, Cardiff, CF11 6BH.

Co-production Workshop 2024 - Cardiff, Wales
