International Business Development – Strategy days

Thursday 16 November to Friday 17 November 2023

The UK Global Screen Fund are running International Business Development strategy days in-person at the University of South Wales in central Cardiff. This event will consist of panels, talks and workshops focusing on building a successful international growth strategy for the development of UK screen content businesses with the goal of increased revenue generation and international expansion.

UKGSF International Distribution - informational webinar

Join the UK Global Screen Fund team to hear more about the application process, eligibility criteria and assessment for all three of the International Distribution funding strands: Film Sales Support, Festival Launch Support, and Prints and Advertising (P&A) Support.

All funding strands within International Distribution are currently open for applications, which are assessed on a rolling basis.

UK Global Screen Fund Data Hub launch webinar

Join the BFI for the launch of the new UK Global Screen Fund Data Hub. Led by Denitsa Yordanova, Head of UK Global Screen Fund, this webinar introduced the brand-new resource designed to provide the UK independent screen sector with international VOD data and insights on the global demand for and value of UK content. Also on hand were representatives from data suppliers Parrot Analytics and Digital-i, presenting metrics around international demand and international viewership.

Co-production Weekender 2023

Saturday 22 April to Sunday 23 April 2023

The UK Global Screen Fund hosted a participatory two-day programme for UK-based feature film and TV producers interested in international co-production. The Co-production Weekender was in central Glasgow on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 April 2023, and consisted of panels, talks, and workshops on co-production with a range of both UK-based and international experts and producers.

International Co-production - informational webinar

12pm to 1pm, Thursday 2 March 2023

As of midday on 7 February 2023, the UKGSF International Co-production strand is open for applications. The deadline for applications is 4 April 2023, and a further round of applications is set to open in August. The UKGSF team is holding an informational webinar about eligibility and the application process for this strand on 2 March 2023 at 12pm, which you can sign up for below.

International Distribution Prints and Advertising (P&A) Support - informational webinar

12pm to 1pm, Monday 27 February 2023

The UKGSF team is holding a webinar for potential applicants to hear more about the application process, eligibility criteria and assessment for the new International Distribution P&A Support strand. A pilot round of this funding strand opened on 20 October 2022, and the deadline for applications is 30 March 2023 (an extension of the previous deadline of 5 January 2023).

BFI International - town hall meeting

A BFI International town hall meeting took place on Tuesday 10 January, led by Neil Peplow, outgoing Director of Industry and International Affairs, and Denitsa Yordanova, Head of UK Global Screen Fund. The meeting was open to all industry and offered an update on the BFI’s international strategy, including the new BFI National Lottery International Connection Fund and the We Are UK Film campaign support, together with the latest news from the UK Global Screen Fund, including awards and activity to date, plus a look ahead to what’s next across each of the UKGSF’s three open access strands.

Meet the UK Global Screen Fund in Cardiff

Cinema 2, Chapter Arts Centre, Market Road, Cardiff CF5 1QE, United Kingdom

Come to this one-hour session to meet representatives from the UK Global Screen Fund (UKGSF), a screen-sector fund administered by British Film Institute that supports independent companies working across animation, documentary, film, games and TV, to grow international activity and partnerships. The session will explore funding opportunities offered by the fund, including International Business Development funding, which is currently open for applications until 13 October, and International Co-production funding for Film and TV, which is re-opening for applications in early 2023. This free, informal, session will outline the aims and opportunities of the UKGSF and will include a Q&A to allow attending Welsh companies to find out more about this UK-wide resource.

Meet the UK Global Screen Fund in Belfast

Representatives from the UK Global Screen Fund held a one-hour session exploring opportunities offered by the fund, including funding for international co-production funding for film and TV, and international business development funding for independent companies working in animation, documentary, films, games and TV. This informal session included a Q&A to allow attending NI-based companies to find out more about this UK-wide resource.

On 22 June the BFI held a webinar to hear the latest news from the UK Global Screen Fund, which was launched last year to boost international development, production, distribution and promotional opportunities for the UK’s independent screen sector across film, TV, animation and interactive narrative games. Led by Neil Peplow, Director of Industry and International Affairs, and Denitsa Yordanova, Head of UK Global Screen Fund, the meeting offered a review of the fund’s pilot year, including awards and activity to date, plus a look ahead to what’s next across each of the three open access strands. Also on hand was the BFI’s Research & Statistics team and Amit Devani from Parrot Analytics, presenting the latest research being published to assist UK companies in doing business internationally.

Co-producing with the UK - Meet the UK Global Screen Fund

The UK Global Screen Fund hosted a panel discussion on co-production at the UK Pavilion during the Cannes Film Festival. UKGSF Head of Fund, Denitsa Yordanova, moderated a discussion between the producers behind recent International Co-production awardees, Germany-Denmark-UK co-production Merkel, and South Africa-UK co-production Stolen.
