Vertigo study day: KS5 Film at HOME Manchester

A day dedicated to the study of Hitchcock’s Vertigo and auteur theory, hosted at HOME Manchester.

Vertigo (1958)

10:30am to 3pm, Wednesday 22 March 2023, HOME, Manchester

Join us at HOME in Manchester for this KS5 Film study day – a partnership between BFI and HOME.

This event will focus on the application of the auteur theory to Vertigo, considered by critics and film historians as the ultimate Hitchcock film, conveying his personal vision at the peak of his artistic talents.

We will consider the development of the auteur theory and its relevance to Vertigo and apply the theory through analysis of key sequences.

In the afternoon there will be a screening of Vertigo, offering a unique chance to see this masterpiece in the format for which it was created.

The session will be led by Rebecca Ellis, course leader of the Film and TV BA at the University of Wales.
