Alfonso Cuarón’s black-and-white drama Roma has won best film at this year’s BAFTAs, also winning best foreign language film, best director and best cinematography.

The film with the most awards this year is Yorgos Lanthimos’s period comedy The Favourite, which picked up seven prizes out of its pack-leading 12 nominations. Its awards include outstanding British film, best actress for Olivia Colman, best supporting actress for Rachel Weisz and best original screenplay.

This year’s outstanding debut went to writer-director Michael Pearce and producer Lauren Dark for the Jersey-set mystery thriller Beast, a film backed by the BFI Film Fund with National Lottery money.
