- A restored 4K version of Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is re-released in UK cinemas by Park Circus on 17 May 2019.
- An exclusive new short film: Stanley Kubrick Considers the Bomb, which takes us inside the mind of one of the greatest film directors of all time, will screen in cinemas just prior to the 4K restored masterpiece. Produced and directed by Matt Wells, with contributions from those who knew Kubrick best, including Katharina Kubrick, Jan Harlan (Kubrick’s executive producer and brother-in-law) and journalist and author Eric Schlosser, the film considers how he responded to society’s widespread concern about nuclear war and transformed it into his irreverent comic masterpiece Dr Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.
- Kubrick, a definitive Stanley Kubrick season, runs throughout April and May at BFI Southbank, including all Kubrick’s own films plus Inspired by Kubrick, a selection of movies inspired by his work, and Kubrick Now, a series of events. Screenings being presented on celluloid wherever possible. Alongside runs Stanley Kubrick: The Exhibition, 26 April–15 September at The Design Museum.
- The May 2019 issue of Sight & Sound will feature a new look at design in Kubrick’s cinema.
