Oscars 2020: the nominations in full
And the nominations are…

Todd Phillips’ Joker leads the way in the Oscar race with 11 Academy Award nominations. The supervillain origin story picked up nominations including best film, best director, best adapted screenplay and best actor for Joaquin Phoenix alongside a host of technical categories.
Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, Sam Mendes’ 1917 and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood bagged 10 nominations apiece, with Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite, Greta Gerwig’s Little Women, Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story and Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit grabbing six each and James Mangold’s Ford v Ferrari (known in the UK as Le Mans ’66) landing four.
The Irishman closed last year’s BFI London Film Festival Marriage Story, Jojo Rabbit, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Ford v Ferrari playing the festival in gala slots. Knives Out, the Festival’s American Express gala, also picked up a nomination for Best Original Screenplay with other LFF films picking up nominations including Harriet, The Two Popes, The Lighthouse and The Cave.
Parasite and Best Documentary nominee For Sama from directors Waad Al-Kateab and Edward Watts’ were both supported by the BFI Audience Fund using funds from the National Lottery.
The winners will be announced on 9 February 2020.
