We welcome the release of the findings and recommendations from the independent review into historic allegations of sexual abuse and harassment and into the organisational culture of Tyneside Cinema. The BFI is a funder of the venue, which is also a key partner of the BFI Film Audience Network.

Nobody should feel unsafe in their workplace, and we expect all our partners to uphold this essential principle. We will consider the review in detail and will make a further statement in due course.

Read the statement from the BFI’s Head of UK Audiences, Ben Luxford, from 2 July when allegations initially emerged.

With UK industry partners, the BFI published guidance and principles to tackle and prevent bullying, harassment and racism in the screen industries. This includes organisations, cinemas/venues and productions.
