Roadkill Q&A with Hugh Laurie and David Hare

When it’s on? Monday 19 October, 19:00

Hugh Laurie and David Hare discuss their upcoming political thriller, Roadkill, with journalist and broadcaster Kirsty Lang. Roadkill stars Laurie as Peter Laurence, a political outsider with ambition and a career on the rise. A string of personal revelations threaten to spiral out of control, but Peter is untroubled by guilt or remorse, expertly walking a high wire between glory and catastrophe as he seeks to further his own agenda while others plot to bring him down.

Roadkill is coming to BBC1 and BBC iPlayer soon.

Girls On Film – Focus on Activism on Screen with Freida Pinto and Daze Aghaji

When’s it on? Tuesday 20 October, 20:00

This episode of Girls On Film, the film review podcast that looks at film from a female perspective, focuses on the impact of activism on film. Podcast host, critic and broadcaster Anna Smith is joined by 20 year-old climate justice activist Daze Aghaji to talk about why she got involved in activism, and the urgent new documentary about climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Anna welcomes Indian actor Freida Pinto, who has a rich career of thought-provoking films about the female experience under her belt. Freida is heavily involved with humanitarian and feminist causes and we discuss which of her roles inspired her to take action. Also on this episode, BFI Director of External Affairs Harriet Finney discusses the impact of recent industry news and how this will affect the cinema distribution and production landscape going forward.
