It was real thrill and an honour to be asked to vote. After much deliberation, I ended up with the list I'd have probably had without all that much deliberation, although of course there are far more than 10 films worthy of a spot here. I limited myself to one film per director, lest the selection be swamped by a couple of favourites, but otherwise my criteria was simple: these are films I consider unimprovable, love rather than admire or appreciate, and would recommend to absolutely anyone (old enough to watch them).
I submitted these in order of year, although if I was to rank them, 2001: A Space Odyssey would be at the top of the pile.
