Your subscription contract is with Sight & Sound, BFI, 21 Stephen Street, London. W1T 1LN and will be fulfilled by Abacus, 107-111 Fleet Street, London EC4A 2AB.
When placing an order for a subscription your subscription term will commence with the next available issue and run for 12 issues. Please allow 6 weeks for delivery. If the magazine ordered changes frequency per annum, we will honour the number of issues paid for, not the term of the subscription. If required, subscriptions can be backdated, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 020 8955 7070.
If placing an order online you will need an email address. Once an order is placed you will receive an email acknowledging the order has been successful, that payment has been taken, and that your subscription is active. It is at this point that the legally binding contract is formed.
You will receive this confirmation within 14 days by post, or by email within 72 hours if you supplied an email address. We will not be responsible if you fail to receive the written confirmation because you have supplied us with an incorrect postal address or email address.
If you are placing an order via phone, fax or email payment will be taken without the cardholder present via “Abacus eMedia”’s secure online virtual terminal using the credit/debit card details supplied by the individual submitting the subscription order. If the transaction was authorised you will receive email notification of this transaction from “Abacus eMedia”.
We reserve the right not to accept or process your order for any reason. All orders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by your payment card issuer. If we do not accept your order and your credit/debit card has already been debited, we will notify you and refund your card within 28 working days.
If the subscription offer contains a welcome gift this gift is subject to availability and will be delivered separately within 28 days after your first payment has been taken. If you bought the subscription as a gift for someone else, any gifts will be delivered to you, the purchaser. We are unable to send gifts direct to the magazine recipient.
Some of our offers are available to new subscribers only – please note you cannot renew your subscription on offers only available to new subscribers.
Cancellations and refunds
Where a minimum term of 12 months is advertised cancellations are not permitted until the end of this initial period and we will not issue you a refund.
After the minimum term of your subscription, you may cancel your subscription contract at any time by notifying our customer services team via email@example.com or telephone 020 8955 7070.
We will refund you the cost of the issues not yet issued to you at the time you notify us of your wish to cancel. Please note that all credit card refunds will be issued in sterling. Your Credit Card company will convert the sterling amount into your local currency and may charge an additional fee for completing the transaction.
Direct Debit payments
We ask that you enter into a Direct Debit agreement with the intention that your subscription will continue for a minimum period of 12 months, even if the frequency of payment is for a shorter period (for example, quarterly). Once a Direct Debit Agreement is completed and accepted, it remains active until cancelled. This means that we will continue to take the payment due until the Agreement is cancelled by you at your bank and/or with ourselves. Unless we change any information on the Direct Debit schedule (term, claim date or payment) we will not send a reminder the next payment is due.
Once a payment has been collected, no refund will be made and any cancellation will be from the next claim date of the payment. You have the right to cancel your Direct Debit in accordance with Direct Debit Guarantee. If you do cancel, you will receive only the issues you have already paid for. If a gift is included as part of the subscription offer we reserve the right to request the return of the gift in the event of an early cancellation of the subscription.
We will deliver the magazines to the address you notify to us when you place your orders. You agree that we will not be responsible for failure to deliver the magazines if you have supplied us with an incorrect address. We reserve the right to dispose of incorrectly addressed envelopes and their contents without an obligation to refund you or any other person if they are returned to us and despite efforts to contact you we do not receive correct address details.
We will not be liable to you for any delay in delivery or non-delivery of magazines in the following circumstances:
- where the issuer of your payment card refuses to authorise payment to us;
- where such delay or failure is due to circumstances beyond our control or the control of our sub–contractors and agents, including but not restricted to war, electricity power failure, utilities failure, failure of telecommunications links, failure of transport infrastructure, fire, flood, government act, act of God, legislative constraints, strikes, labour disputes or malicious damage involving employees.
Our liability to you in the event of magazines being lost in despatch shall at our discretion, be limited to replacement of the missing issues, to the extent permitted by law we exclude all other liability to you. Our exclusions of liability shall not apply to any damages arising from death or personal injury caused by our negligence or that of any of our employees or agents. These Terms and Conditions do not and shall not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

All print subscribers are able to access the Sight & Sound desktop digital edition and app for no additional charge.
