Digital Library on Demand service terms and conditions

Here are the conditions of use for the BFI Reuben Library electronic document delivery service.

1. By making a DLD request you have agreed to the BFI’s copyright declaration, and understand that items scanned are for personal research use only, any further copying, dissemination or publication of scanned material is prohibited.

2. You may print a single copy of the scanned material on paper for non-commercial research and/or private study.

3. You ensure that all electronic versions of the scan are deleted after successful printing and/or once your need for them has been met.

4. Scans are charged at £5 per item requested, with a maximum limit of five requests allowed in any one transaction.

5. Requests are made via an online form on the BFI website.

6. A valid email address must be supplied when making a request of the DLD service. The BFI reserves the right not to fulfil requests if a contact email address is not supplied.

7. Payment for the service is taken in advance of scanning using a valid credit/debit card via a secure online form. Registration is required.

8. The BFI shall endeavour to make scans available in black and white PDF, at 150 dpi, within 5 working days from when payment is received.

9. Scans are delivered digitally via a link to a secure server over the internet. A notification email will be sent to the email address provided on the request form when the scans are ready.

10. Scans are available to be downloaded for 3 days from the date of the notification email being sent.

11. Scans can be requested to be re-sent via the secure server for up to 14 days after the date of the original notification email at no extra charge. After 14 days an administrative fee of £5 will be charged for each scan requested to be re-sent.

12. You are responsible for having the appropriate computer, software and internet connection in order to make use of the DLD service.

13. The BFI is not responsible for any technical issues you encounter when downloading the scan from the secure server.

14. The BFI Reuben Library DLD service reserves the right to refuse requests if the material is too fragile to be scanned, or to scan from microform surrogates where available.
