Ray Harryhausen 90th Birthday Tribute

On Saturday 26 June, BAFTA and the BFI jointly held a 90th birthday tribute to the legendary filmmaker Ray Harryhausen. Hosted by director John Landis, the event featured a myriad of presenters who have been influenced by Harryhausen's work, and culminated in surprise guest Peter Jackson presenting Ray with his BAFTA Special Award for a Unique and Outstanding Contribution to Cinema, as well as giving a heartfelt tribute punctuated by his own adolescent homages to Harryhausen's work. Those who could not be there but provided video tributes included James Cameron, Tim Burton, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Ray's closest friend, science fiction legend Ray Bradbury. This clip provides highlights of a truly special evening marking the life and work of a great filmmaker and craftsman.
