Bird's Eye View Opening Gala: International Women's Day

The Opening Gala of the Birds Eye View Film Festival, a celebration of international female filmmakers, begins with a speech from BFI Director Amanda Nevill, who notes that both the BFI and Birds Eye View share many core values, including the belief in 'the power that film has to change the world'.

Special guest Zoë Wanamaker draws attention to the woefully small percentage of female directors and screenwriters working in the British film industry, while Festival Director Rachel Millward ends with the observation that' until we have equality on screen and behind the screen, we're missing out on half the picture'.
