Glorious 39 + Q&A

Depicting a country on the verge of war, Glorious 39 centres on an upper class family and their attempts to preserve their way of life amidst political uncertainty. In this post-screening discussion hosted by Dave Calhoun, director Stephen Poliakoff reveals the motives behind his long overdue return to the silver screen, his reasons for depicting the troubling uncertainty of a nation through the eyes of a single family, and the events that many have forgotten regarding this most troubling period of British history. Cast members Romola Garai and Bill Nighy are also on hand to discuss their respective characters, with both revealing the challenges they faced portraying characters of such complexity.
