Kubrick's Napoleon: The Greatest Movie Never Made? (Part 2)

Having examined the meticulous preparation behind Kubrick’s Napoleon, this event subsequently sought to tease out further insights into the project. Napoleonic researcher Andrew Birkin and Kubrick’s brother-in-law Jan Harlan join BFI's Curator of Public Programmes Rhidian Davis to discuss the finer details of the unfinished film. Whilst Harlan reveals key facts regarding possible casting, locations and soundtracks, Birkin highlights the vast array of source material that was at Kubrick’s disposal. With such a significant volume of information available – particularly transcripts of Napoleon’s own discourse – Kubrick’s Napoleon would have reflected the personal research choices he had made regarding source material, and therefore Kubrick himself.
