Following a presentation at the Media Studies Conference 2010, Professor Christine Geraghty takes part in an on stage discussion about screen adaptions hosted by Mark Reid, Head of Education and Learning at the BFI. Professor Geraghty comments on adaptation studies becoming a discipline, particularly in the United States, and the recognition that certain adaptations have begun to get from traditional film studies. She also refers to Bleak House, Andrew Davies' version of the Charles Dickens classic for the BBC, as an interesting case study of the adaptation of a long melodrama. Finally Geraghty shares her views on interactivity and the trend towards channeling programmes through multiple platforms.
