Roland Mouret on Darling

Fashion Designer Roland Mouret introduced Darling, John Schlesinger's 1965 film classic, in a special Screen Epiphany event presented in partnership with ELLE Magazine. When Roland Mouret discovered Darling, he was fascinated by Julie Christie's performance as a young model determined to make her way in the fashion world. According to Roland Mouret, the film depicted eloquently the feelings and attitudes of that period towards fame, glamour and money, and he suggests that not much has changed since then. Mouret also compliments Carey Mulligan, suggesting that her role in An Education will be just as iconic and life transforming as Darling was for Julie Christie.
