The Great White Silence Panel Discussion

Bryony Dixon and Kieron Webb from the BFI National Archive detail the remarkable restoration of The Great White Silence (1924), Herbert Ponting’s extraordinary record of Captain Scott’s ill-fated race to the South Pole. Composer Simon Fisher Turner then discusses the film’s haunting soundtrack, and the decision to record ambient sound from Scott's hut in Antarctica.
