Launch of Screen Heritage UK

Screen Heritage UK is a major collaboration between the BFI and regional archives which will increase public access to the UK's rich film heritage through an online catalogue, digital innovation and pioneering new methods of film archiving.

We launched SHUK in September 2011 with The Reel History of Britain, a BFI and BBC co-production presented by Melvyn Bragg. Ruth Kelly, the BFI's Head of Collections and Information, introduces the project at the launch event, while Rory Keating (BBC Director of Archive Content), Ruth Pitt (Executive Producer, Reel History of Britain), Robin Baker (Head Curator of the BFI National Archive) and Frank Gray (Director, Screen Archive South East) discuss the making of The Reel History of Britain and the changing role of archive film.
