Power To The Pixel: Tero Kaukomaa

Using viral transmedia marketing techniques, Iron Sky, a low budget science fiction feature film built a large online following allowing it to tap into the new crowd-sourced funding model as well as crowd-sourcing ideas for the background to the story world and helping with the film production itself. Where traditional funding approaches might give hard barriers to how much might be raised, engaging with the audience to produce a large number of small scale investment options gave the project a scope to grow and realise a budget beyond their expectations.
