Director Mike Hodges (Get Carter, Flash Gordon) introduces the film that inspired him - Sweet Smell of Success (1957), Alexander MacKendrick’s classic film noir, starring Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis.
Hodges remembers seeing this "definitive New York movie" at the cinema when he was 25 and explains why it left him feeling "utterly shaken".
