BFI DVD/Blu-ray releases announced for January and February 2014

The Epic of Everest (1924)

The BFI National Archive’s stunning restoration of The Epic of Everest will be released on Dual Format Edition (DVD and Blu-ray) on 20 January 2014. Captain John Noel’s extraordinary official record of the tragic 1924 Everest expedition features a new score by composer Simon Fisher Turner, and also includes a recreation of the orchestral soundtrack which accompanied the film upon its original screenings.

Other releases in January and February 2014 are:

• The Stuart Hall Project (DVD / January) – provocative and inspiring documentary from director John Akomfrah about one of Britain’s most influential cultural theorists and political thinkers of the post-war period. Watch the trailer here.
